FLORENCE, Ky. (WXIX) — Four people and a suspect have been killed in a mass shooting in Florence, Florence police said.
Officers were called to a home on Ridgecrest Drive shortly before 3 a.m. for multiple reports of an “active shooter,” police explained.
According to police, seven people were found with gunshot wounds at the scene of the accident.
Four of the seven were pronounced dead at the Ridgecrest Drive scene, Florence police said. The other three victims remain in UC Hospital.
The lone suspect drove away from the scene, but police said he was seen near Farmview Drive and US-42.
A chase ensued that ended on Dale Heimbrock Way, near Hicks Pike, when the suspect’s vehicle ended up in a ditch.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
According to police, he was taken to St. Elizabeth, where he died.
The investigation is still ongoing.
