Controversial boxer Ryan Garcia knocked out: WBC president ‘fears’ for his well-being; family releases statement

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has expelled American boxer Ryan Garcia, stating that he will no longer be associated with the organization in any way. The extreme measure came after the controversial fighter repeatedly used racial slurs against black people. The 25-year-old professional boxer also made derogatory comments about Muslims during a livestream on social media.

Ryan Garcia’s Recent Controversial History

Garcia’s expulsion adds to a tumultuous list of red marks on his professional portfolio. The American boxer was already serving a year-long suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission after testing positive for the performance-enhancing drug Ostarine. The results nullified his April 20 victory over Devin Haney.

In June, he was also arrested for vandalism. Garcia was taken in handcuffs to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Beverly Hills, where he allegedly caused more than $15,000 in damage, according to a representative for the establishment.

Although the boxer denies having any problems after the fight with Haney, concerns about his erratic behavior, which culminated in a cry for help, have caused unrest in the boxing community.

On Thursday, his family spoke out against his latest shameful racist rant on social media. The Garcia family condemned his behavior, saying in a statement: “Our family unequivocally does not support any statements he has made regarding race or religion – they do not reflect who Ryan truly is and how he was raised.”

Furthermore, they confirmed that they are “committed” to addressing his mental health issues.

Garcia eventually posted a half-hearted apology on social media. “I was trolling, I want all the killing to stop,” he wrote. “I love everyone, sorry if I offended you.”
