Pay Fire: Evacuations in place as fire spreads rapidly in El Dorado County
HERE AT HOME WE’RE JUST DEALING WITH MORE HEAT. ACTUALLY IT’S 68 DEGREES NOW, SO IT’S NOT A BAD TIME TO GO FOR A RUN, A CYCLING ROUTE, A DOG WALK, OR WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO OUTSIDE. YOU’LL WANT TO DO IT AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. THE WIND IS NOW WEST-SOUTHWEST ABOUT THREE MILES AN HOUR. BUT AS WE GO THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON, LOOK AT THIS 94 BY 11 AT 1:00, 103 AT 3:00, 110 DEGREES, LIKE I SAID, RECORD BREAKING HEAT FOR TODAY. AND UNFORTUNATELY THAT HEAT IS GOING TO CONTINUE, NOT JUST TODAY BUT THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND AND INTO THE EARLY PART OF NEXT WEEK. NOW, AS WE GET TO THE MIDST OF NEXT WEEK, WE COULD SEE A FEW BREAKINGS IN THAT HEAT WHICH MAY DIVE A BIT INTO THE UPPER 35C, AND THEN AS WE GO INTO NEXT WEEKEND, IT GETS A LITTLE COOLER. IT LOOKS LIKE WE ARE REALLY LIKELY TO SEE DOUBLE FIGURE HIGHLIGHTS NEXT WEEKEND. AND I’M SURE EVERYONE WILL WELCOME THAT. SO SOME WAYS TO BEAT THE HEAT IF YOU WANT TO CHECK OUT YOUR LOCAL WATERWAYS. NORTH FORK OF THE AMERICAN RIVER AT AUBURN DAM. IT IS 66 DEGREES RIGHT NOW. THE WATER HAS REALLY HEATED UP IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. SACRAMENTO RIVER AT 72. FREEPORT FOLSOM LAKE AT BROWNS RAVINE 76 DEGREES. SO STILL PRETTY COMFORTABLE. AS I SAID YOUR COMMUNITY POOLS ARE USUALLY HIGH 70’S TO LOW 80’S AND LAKE TAHOE TAHOE CITY IS 66 DEGREES. REMEMBER WHEN THIS HEAT WAVE STARTED THE LAKE TEMPERATURE WAS ONLY 59. NOW, IF WE LOOK AT THE SEVEN DAY FORECAST, IT IS 93 DEGREES TODAY, IN THE TRUCKEE AND LAKE TAHOE AREA. YES, THAT IS REALLY HOT. TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 90s. THROUGH WEDNESDAY. BEFORE WE GET BACK INTO THE 80s TODAY FOR THE HILLS, TOMORROW 106 OF THE SAME. SO STAY HYDRATED. PLENTY OF WATER. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT YOU GET ON YOUR BODY. IT REALLY BLOWS OFF OVER TIME IN THESE HEAT WAVES. NOW FOR SACRAMENTO TODAY WE ARE EXPECTING A HIGH OF 111. WE ARE EXPECTING THAT TO BREAK THE RECORD OF 105. THAT WAS SET IN 1989. WE’VE HAD THIS RECORD FOR A WHILE. TOMORROW 106, 102, 101 FOR MONDAY AND TUESDAY. IT’S NOT GOING TO BE THAT BAD, RIGHT. AND THEN, LIKE I SAID, SOME HIGHLIGHTS IN THE UPPER 90S EXPECTED FOR THE MID AND END OF NEXT WEEK. THAT’LL DEFINITELY FEEL BETTER THAN WHAT WE’VE BEEN DEALING WITH. THIS IS SOME CRAZY WEATHER IN THE BAY AREA. KIND OF GOT AWAY. HOW DO WE GET AWAY FROM THE HEAT. AND THEN YOU CAME BACK TO THIS OPPRESSING HEAT. WOW. IT’
