Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is coming up at 9 a.m. ET on July 10 in Paris, France. The company isn’t shy about at least a few things it’s talking about: The image in the announcement video clearly hints at foldables, and the video’s description reads, in part, “Galaxy AI is here.” You can watch the stream on YouTube or on its website.
There will be more to the event than just foldable phones and discounts on pre-announcement device pre-orders. Samsung is doing its regular Galaxy phone announcements at its other The Galaxy Unpacked event may have already passed at the beginning of the year, but we may also hear about other things too, including a new Samsung Watch product and of course, the Galaxy Ring.
Milky Way Ring
Samsung’s January announcement of the Galaxy Ring was little more than a teaser , but the company gave reporters hands-on time with a prototype at Mobile World Congress in February, revealing colors and ring sizes and a bit about what kind of data the sensors will collect. What we’re curious to hear is how much it will cost, what kind of health sensors it will have, and when it will arrive.
There are now rumors, such as that it will cost around $300 or $350 and that Samsung could offer a fitness and health subscription service with it. But other than that and the FCC test reports revealing the battery capacity, little about the Galaxy Ring has come out of the halls of Samsung.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6
Much has already been leaked about the Galaxy Z foldables. It looks like the Z Fold 6 will get an updated, more square design, significantly brighter displays, and slightly longer battery life, though it will stick with the same 4,400mAh battery size as its predecessor.
The clamshell Flip 6 may be less changed than the previous model, but a number of other key updates are expected. Alongside a similar brightness boost as the Fold 6, the phone could get a much brighter display than its bigger sibling, along with a vapor chamber cooling system and either a 4,000mAh battery or a 3,790mAh battery, depending on the rumor (the current model’s battery capacity is 3,700mAh). The secondary display is also reportedly an IPS panel rather than OLED.
Both phones are expected to be lighter, thinner and feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
Milky Way AI
Samsung has been quick to jump on the AI bandwagon, and at least some of its Galaxy AI features are available or coming to all sorts of Galaxy phones and devices — not just the latest and greatest. So far, Galaxy AI has been packed with artificial intelligence bets: things like on-device audio and text translation, in-call and photo and video editing, and Google’s Circle to Search feature. Now’s the company’s chance to differentiate itself a little.
Samsung Galaxy Watch
Samsung is likely to talk about its next Galaxy Watch series. Rumors so far suggest more of the same for the regular Watch 7, and Samsung has already announced a budget-friendly Galaxy Watch FE , but it could unveil a hefty smartwatch instead, dubbed the Galaxy Watch 7 ‘Ultra.’
The Watch 7 Ultra looks like a bigger, beefier watch with a squircle case — but a still circular watch face. The chunky watch seen in leaked renders appears to be the company’s answer to the Apple Watch Ultra, down to the point that there appears to be a third button, possibly similar in function to Apple’s Action Button. It even appears to have Samsung’s interpretation of Apple’s patented slide-in watchband connector — meaning you may not be able to use your old Galaxy Watch bands with this one.
New Galaxy Buds
The Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra isn’t the only thing apparently inspired by Apple’s designs — Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 3, based on leaks so far, look nothing like Apple’s third-generation AirPods, but with angular stems instead of round ones, and blue and orange accents on the tips. “Pro” models look a little different, with a matte gray finish. Someone on Reddit claimed to have already picked up a pair of these for $250 at a Walmart in the US, so it looks like they’re already on stores (and, apparently, on some shelves).
